Exploring the fictional satirical Facebook page along with a pen name termed "International State College of the Philippines" also known as ISCP, the said Facebook page became popular and viral for its humorous content in August 2022. With its unique representation of visual graphic elements and entertaining depiction of current societal issues in the Philippines, this prompted Filipino social media users to enjoy and resonate with it. Consequently, despite gaining social engagement, why did ISCP suddenly become a fad? Let's dissect and take a look at the rise and fall of ISCP's satirical content, engagements, and humorous take on Philippine current events that still captured the hearts of the Filipino masses.

Why did the Facebook page  become famous?

Niño Ged, alongside his fellow page co-founders, founded International State College University (ISCP) as a Facebook page. In an interview with Philstar, ISCP was established as an idea aiming to satirize college life. He believed that ISCP is important as it provides a glimpse into a student’s college experience. In fact, he was also an incoming college student himself. He had the brilliant idea that resulted in the satirical university thriving as entertainment on social media, prompting the establishment of student communities in the country.

According to Niño, the Facebook page was established to also encourage netizens to be vigilant about materials found online. Thus, with its clever depiction of college life,  ISCP made  the university itself as social media's dream university, as it provided a funny perspective on  student life through its platforms.

Along with the amazing courses offered by the satire university, such delivery of humor is entertaining and amusing, especially associating such memes with many famous personalities in the Philippines. Apart from these, the satire Facebook page even made an orchestral version of their school anthem based on the popular song "Sun and Moon" by Anees that will make you crack up. Here are some examples and my top personal picks of memes that were made by the satire page:

More Pop Cult!

The first meme reference was from a certain GMA Network TV series. If you want to experience and learn graphics at a beginner level, enroll in ISCP’s graphic design course right now, as their university offers a major degree in 3D graphics. In promoting the degree program, ISCP also created a material depicting a poorly animated snake with a visible human face to assert that the university is competent enough to cater to aspiring graphic artists in the field.

Are you an expert on gossip? Why not take up a Mass Communication major in Community Information Gathering and Relaying Systems? Gather data with the help of ISCP, the university that will hone you as a professional, either as an expert chismosa or chismoso, at gathering data. No one would think that some people think this education is chismis.

Here is Professor Richard Gomez, the Dean of the College of Fine Arts, as your possible professor. This makes it self-explanatory for this one. The post has been racked with over 100k Haha reactions that made it even more hilarious, particularly at how the satire Facebook page chose the actor to be the dean of fine arts because of his talent for painting.

Let’s take a look at prominent host Kuya Kim’s first impression at ISCP. Evaluating the reaction of Kuya Kim Atienza, he initially thought that ISCP was a scam and said that he was never affiliated with the institution. However, upon knowing that ISCP was a satirical page, he later joined the community. One student posted a hilarious comment asking permission to go to the comfort room, and then he replied with a funny comment as well. Can you imagine Kuya Kim as your professor at ISCP?

Potency has been depleted

After August 2022, ISCP became a fad or a short-lived intense, viral, and widely shared enthusiasm that helped the satire page thrive. According to the Facebook satire page, some content has 17k+ reactions, 10k+ reactions, 500-700+ reactions, and even 80+ reactions as of December 2022. Hence, the rise of virality and the fall of memes made the Facebook page  so-called "Laos na!" or obsolete. As I looked up the feed, nothing popped up for that page or was even shared by other Facebook friends. The creators were likely juiced up from the making of promotional materials and other related content, resulting in a low engagement rate with the audience. Hence, the time is up as an era ends for the satire university.

Nothing stays famous forever, but it was a great memory with the internet moments; surely it brings back memories, remembering with the use of the Facebook bios that either we are working at Krusty Krab or living at Edi Sa Puso Mo: "">. With this, how ISCP entertained, motivated, and connected us  Filipinos to make great humorous content and even unleash our innate creativeness through the making of ISCP is remarkable.
